The Colt Walker, sometimes known as the Walker Colt, is a single-action revolver with a revolving cylinder holding six charges of black powder behind six bullets which are typically .44 caliber lead balls. It was designed in 1846 by American firearms inventor Samuel Colt to the specifications of Captain Samuel Hamilton Walker. Built on the earlier Colt Paterson design, Walker wanted a handgun that was extremely powerful at close range. Samuel Walker carried two of his namesake revolvers in the Mexican-American War. He was killed in battle the same year his famous handgun was invented, 1847, shortly after he had received the pair. Only 1100 of these guns were originally made, 1000 as part of a military contract, and an additional 100 for the civilian market, making original Colt Walker revolvers extremely rare and valuable!
This Hartford model gun of the Colt Walker is made with high-quality materials and extreme attention to details. Primarily made of high-density polymer plastic, this model gun has a considerable heft to it. The gun features a faux hard-case finish for the grip assembly and a nice matte black finish for the rest of the revolver's frame. The Colt Walker is a single action revolver, which means that the hammer as to be pulled back in order to make the model go click, the take down procedure is also identical to the real one and the Colt Walker markings are nice and deep, which gives this model gun a sense of authenticity, making it a great collector's piece for classic ball and cap revolver enthusiasts, considering that a real original Colt Walker would cost more than an arm and a leg to procure!
Please do note that since this is a model gun, projectiles cannot be made to fire.
