The M1849 Pocket Later Version is the later edition of one of the most popular cap and ball revolvers of the era. Legend has it that the pocket revolvers were popular with the United States Civil War-era officers who didn't rely on them as combat arms but as a defense against battle surgeons bent on amputating limbs, although that might be true, all we know is this revolver was probably used for self-defense reasons only in the wild west.
