The Type 38 Carbine is a variant of the Japanese Type 38 rifle that was introduced into service at the same time as the standard rifle and was intended for use by cavalry, engineers, quartermasters, and other non-frontline troops. By the 1940s, more than three million Type 38s have been issued by the Imperial Japanese Army and was later found in the post-war era by the U.S. Military and National Rifle Association to have the strongest receiver of any bolt action of any nation. Making the Type 38 capable of handling more powerful cartridges.
KTW has faithfully replicated this particular carbine version from the pages of Japan's history. The quality of the rifle is superb and a high degree of attention has been paid to each detail of the rifle. The Type 38 carbine features markings of the Imperial Japanese Army, the later affixed dust cover, and even the bayonet lug.
Operationally the rifle has a very smooth bolt action and requires the bolt knob to be put at a 90 degree angle to operate. Its loading chamber is uniquely designed with a metal cover that can be removed by a release button found in the trigger guard. Under the cover is a turning wheel (much like you will see on high-capacity magazines) and by turning it, it will open the chamber allowing you to load up to 22 rounds in the chamber, a push button will then release the wound up tension, sending the cover forward and chambering your rounds.
