The Colt Canada C7 is the Canadian military's adoption of the Colt's Armalite AR-15 platform, manufactured by Colt Canada (Diemaco), having a similar design and function to the M16A3.
The C7 and its variants have been adopted as the standard-issue rifle by the militaries of Canada, Norway (Spec Ops), Denmark and the Netherlands. Following trials, C8 variants are general-issue firearms for the United Kingdom's Special Forces. The development of the C7 assault rifle paralleled that of the M16A2 by Colt. A Canadian Forces liaison officer worked with the United States Marine Corps in the M16A1 Product Improvement Program and relayed information to Canada's Rifle Replacement Program Office. The C7 is more akin to the prototype M16A1E1, rather than the final M16A2s. The earliest C7s were manufactured by Colt for the Canadian Forces as the Colt Model 715. The C7 series of firearms is driven by the same Stoner bolt and carrier gas system as the M16 series. Like the M16A1 and M16A3, the C7 has both semi-automatic and fully automatic fire modes. The C7 also features structural strengthening, a spent case deflector, improved handguards, and a longer stock developed for the M16A2.
Initially producing the Inokatsu M4A1 with the WA system during the early stages of its conception, Viper Tech branched off from Inokatsu and began offering complete GBB rifles for the airsoft community. Now Viper Tech faithfully replicated the M16C7 rifle, meticulously reproducing the rifle down to its manufacturing processes. All their AR15, M4, SR, and 416 GBB rifles feature proper forged 6061-T6 CNC-machined Aluminum receivers. This process involves superheating the 6061 billet and hammering it into the shape of a blank upper and lower receiver, compressing the Aluminum at a molecular level to create exceptionally superb, robust receivers. As for the internal components, the assembly of the rifles incorporates phosphate-treated forged CNC steel, which includes the fire controls, bolt carrier, nozzle, outer barrel, and front sight gas block, to name a few. This C7 features deeply engraved trade and roll markings, adding to its level of authenticity.
At its core, Viper Tech aims to create the best-performing Airsoft gas-powered rifle by utilizing the OG Western Arms WOC fire control system, which features a crisp two-stage trigger that offers minimal trigger travel and a clean break. The rifle has the standard Safe / Semi-Auto / Full-Auto fire modes, with the fire selector being very tight and clean to actuate. As mentioned previously, the internal components are built to the highest quality, ensuring durability and the ability to withstand harsh usage. As each Viper Tech rifle is a specialised build, the rifle will require a break-in period to achieve a buttery smooth performance. Each interaction, such as the bolt rack, trigger pull, and selector actuation, will gradually become free of grit, with precise, tight fitment and tolerance ensuring that all components operate flawlessly. A notable selling point of Viper Tech is its usage of an Aluminum nozzle, which provides a consistent air seal and BB loading. along with a remarkable felt recoil impulse that is stout and pronounced with each pull of the trigger, thanks to the Aluminum nozzle and Steel bolt carrier.
Viper Tech customises their rifles according to user preferences; in this case, the rifle is optimised to perform best with high-quality 0.2g 6mm BBs, maintaining consistent FPS performance at 393fps. It features a brass 6.04 inner barrel for accurate, precise shots and an adequate range for skirmishes. Additionally, the 18mm nozzle design offers a sharper recoil impulse for a more intense felt recoil experience, albeit at the expense of compatibility with CO2 magazines. The hop-up can be adjusted by removing the handguard and turning the wheel located beneath the outer barrel. The Viper Tech rifle requires a break-in period of approximately 10,000 rounds of BBs to wear in and achieve optimal performance, allowing users to experience the most realistic rifle available on the market.
