The PP-19 Vityaz (PP-19-01 "Vityaz-SN") is a 9x19mm submachine gun developed in 2004 by Russian small arms manufacturer Izhmash. "Vityaz" is Russian for "brave warrior" or "knight". The PP-19 Vityaz is a selective fire submachine gun that uses a simple closed bolt, straight blowback method of operation. It is based on the AK-74 and offers a high degree of parts commonality with the AK-74.
As such, it has no gas system and the internal components have been modified accordingly. The bolt carrier with integral charging handle is similar to the AK family; however, the piston rod and rotary bolt were removed, and a weight on the bolt extends into the previous gas tube. The return spring and guide rod are almost identical to those of the AK-family. The Vityaz has a four-groove barrel with a 240 mm (1:9 in) right-hand rifling pitch. Its muzzle brake has three small rectangular ports on each side that serve to reduce muzzle rise; however, their main purpose is to protect the muzzle from damage. It can be equipped with a detachable sound suppressor.
The PP-19 Vityaz utilises the AKS-74 shoulder stock, which folds to the left side of the receiver. The pistol grip is identical to the grip of the AK-100 series and is made of a black fiberglass-reinforced polyamide 6. The handguard has attachment points for a laser target designator, a tactical flashlight, and a foregrip. The PP-19 Vityaz is provided with two types of rail systems for mounting various optical or collimator sights: a Picatinny rail on top of the receiver or a dove-tail side rail, and the standard AK-type front and rear sights.
This is VFC's fourth entry into their GBB AK line-up. Like all the previous entries, the VFC PP19-01 features a tough full-steel construction with parts like the receiver assembly made using stamped steel, which is extremely rigid and durable without the extra bulk like that of a billet-made receiver. It is also topped off with a durable, simulated surface treatment, which gives the PP19-01 a nice, grainy finish like the real gun. You can also expect that the engravings and markings on the VFC PP19-01 are all there and are highly detailed and period-correct. What is also really cool is that the external gun assembly is the same dimensions as the actual real-steel PP-19 SMG, which means that real AK furniture and accessories will fit on this rifle with little to no problems! The handguard and pistol grip are made of tough glass-filled polymer, which helps shave off further weight overall. On the left side of the receiver is the AK dovetail side mount, which can seat additional rails or optics and is fully compatible with Warsaw Pact-style optics like the KOBRA red dot or the Russian PK-A.
Internally, the VFC PP19-01 boasts the same level of quality when it comes to the internal components and structure. Featuring a CNC-machined steel bolt carrier, with the bolt carrier group built to be incredibly durable and robust. Its cylinder assembly has been beefed up with an enlarged 22mm cylinder, which naturally results in a much stronger kick and felt recoil impulse compared to other brands of GBB AKs on the market. The gun also features an adjustable bolt travel setting, which allows the user to set the gun up to either have a long-stroke full travel cyclic action, allowing the bolt to travel fully to the rear like a real AK system, or a short-stroke half travel cyclic action, which allows only half the travel distance for a faster rate of fire. Next, the fire control group is also a full-steel construction for additional durability and is equipped with a realistic braided wire hammer spring, as seen in a real AK FCG. The PP19-01 also comes equipped with a fully adjustable hop-up unit, which has an easy-to-disassemble design. The hop-up bucking and inner barrel are all standard VSR-spec, making it incredibly easy to upgrade with existing aftermarket buckings and inner barrels.
The PP19-01 comes paired with VFC's 9x19mm-style AK gas magazine. Like VFC's other AK magazines, the outer shell of the magazine ism ade using the same glass-filled polymer found on the stock and handguard, while the core of the magazine is machined using lightweight aluminum alloy, making the overall magazine unit extremely lightweight. It holds a maximum capacity of 35 rounds and boasts a 65cc gas capacity, which is decently large for such a slim 9mm-style magazine. The magazine also comes equipped with a "dry-fire" mode, which allows the shooter to experience shooting the gun safely without having to load ammunition.
Overall, the VFC PP19-01 GBB Airsoft SMG will definitely stoke the flames of GBB AK supremacy over "CRY BABY AR users". With its high-quality build and construction, to its fantastic shooting performance, it will be another great addition to any gun collector's arsenal and will definitely perform reliably like a real AK-based system when out skirmishing.
