The Right Arm of the Free World, a term given to the FAL a French acronym for Fusil Automatique Leger and its variants, this rifle was at a point adopted by more than 90 nations and was at a time the direct competitor to the AK-47/AKM rifles. This rifle was seen in literally every continent in the world (except Antarctica) and has been featured and seen in both major conflicts and minor skirmishes from the 1950s, from the Vietnam War and the Rhodesian Bush Wars of the Cold War era to Middle Eastern Insurgencies today in Syria and Iraq.
As time went on, the LAR, once called the "Right Arm of the Free World" began to show its age - the downsides mainly being too heavy and lacking modern modular features. To address these issues, a modernized version was conceived in the 1990s. This updated model kept the classic LAR design while introducing several improvements to meet modern combat needs. First, the LAR OSW used lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum and improved manufacturing techniques to reduce its overall weight. It also featured a redesigned Picatinny rail system, making it easier to mount optics, tactical lights, and other essential accessories. Additionally, the original 21"inch standard barrel was cut down to a shorter 11"inch barrel configuration making it better suited and more flexible for CQB scenarios. Enter the LAR OSW.
The goal of the LAR OSW was to combine the legendary durability of the original FN FAL with modern form and function, making it suitable for today's Military and Law Enforcement application as well as the unrelenting demands of the civilian market. Not only does it preserve the timeless value in its design but also solidifies its place in the world of modern warfare. VFC's LAR OSW MK1 GBB Airsoft rifle takes these modern features a step further. The original hard plastic handguard at the front has been replaced with a more up-to-date M-LOK handguard. The upper receiver now sports a CNC-machined DS*-style Picatinny rail, paired with a paratrooper-style side folding stock. The VFC LAR OSW GBB Airsoft rifle offers a satisfying mechanical operation, strong recoil impulse, and realistic features like a functioning bolt lock and a dry fire mode. Its well-crafted dummy bolt design, enlarged 21mm nozzle, steel components, and precision fire control system all culminate to deliver an unmatched shooting experience.?VFC has managed to keep the iconic look of the classic design while giving players more options for modern accessories, breathing new life into this iconic weapon platform.?
