The Tokyo Marui S.A.A. 45 Spring Revolver is the quintessential spring Airsoft revolver. Although this is a plastic spring action model gun that is marketed for children, this gun is an absolute blast to load and shoot! Just looking at the gun, it doesn't look plastic just as you can normally expect how a quality Japanese-made gun should look, upon handling it, the gun does feel quite plastic though it does give a solid feel as there are little to no creaking noises from it at all when handling the gun.
What is amazing is that this gun, function-wise, is just like its real-steel counterpart. Loading the gun and cocking it is pretty much the same as any other S.A.A. where you would need to half-cock the hammer to allow the cylinder to rotate counterclockwise then load each shell by opening the loading gate and sliding in each shell one by one. The fun factor comes in as you can freely spin the cylinder as you would see cowboys and gun slingers do in western movies! The ejection rod is there and functional even though you don't really have to use it and if you cock the gun by mistake, you can manually decock the gun without having to fire, which we found to be awesome considering that this gun is spring action only! You really forget that this is a springer once you start playing with it. While we are on the topic of cocking the guns hammer, it is well worth mentioning that the hammer operation is quite smooth, though we would not recommend fanning the gun too much as it is still a polymer plastic gun.
This particular version of the gun is the Cavalry Model Colt S.A.A. Custom which features the Cavalry length outer barrel of 7 and a half inches and a unique two-tone Black and Brass frame with beautiful faux wood grip panels with the Colt Medallion inlay. Simply beautiful!
The gun in contrast to most Airsoft revolvers has an adjustable hop-up which can be adjusted using the tool that comes in the box, which is very useful as it pushes the effective range since this gun clocks in at a low FPS and is designed to use 0.12 gram BBs, remember this was designed for children of the age of 10 and above.
Be sure to get more shells if you wish to skirmish with this pistol because each shell only carries 1 BB.
