The Colt Police Positive was the successor to the 1896 Colt New Police revolver, replacing it in 1907. Improving upon the New Police, it integrated the "Positive Lock" system, an internal hammer block safety, with its nomenclature nickname incorporated to the new revolver. A direct competitor to the Smith & Wesson Model 10, Colt shrewdly marketed their new Revolver lineup against its arch nemesis, proclaiming "All Colt cylinders TURN TO THE RIGHT", implying their forced crane up cylinder design results in a tighter lockup with tighter tolerance and better chamber alignment to the barrel, having enhanced accuracy with this design. This small framed revolver later is chambered for .32, .22, and most notably the .38 S&W, aptly named the Police Positive "Special", one of the lightest police revolver at its time and a member of Colt?s pocket-sized revolver series, later becoming the D-frame series. Boasting a production of 750, 000 units, the revolver dominated the law enforcement market in the 1900s. Made by Tanaka, the revolver has undergone extensive modification to enhance its overall durability, imitation and ease of use. Previous cylinder lockup issues were resolved with a revised two-piece rebound lever enhanced with pressed and die-cast materials to prevent gradual misalignment. One could expect superb built quality with smooth action and perfect cylinder timings. Other than that, since this is a heavyweight model, with the revolver injected with zinc-alloy powder to enhance its weighty feel to it and doesn't look or feel plastic until you actually play with it would you realize that this gun is actually made of quality polymer components. Since this model gun was based on the actual Police Positive which was designed in an era where handguns are fired with a one-handed grip only, one will notice that when gripped with two hands it actually feels strange to do so and it is more natural to grip it with one hand, making it quite period correct.
