Developed in response to Colt's .38 Super Automatic, the .357 Magnum was designed to defeat the early emergence of ballistic vests during the Interwar Period. At the time, the ballistic vests were able to withstand any handgun bullet traveling at a velocity less than 1000ft/s, which the Colt .38 Super Automatic was just able to defeat it. To address this, the .357 was collaboratively developed to surpass the Colt .38 Super Automatic, with its original muzzle velocity as able to travel 1525ft/s, with a cartridge having the same dimensions as a .38 but elongated, it's elongated shaped was designed to prevent accidental loading into .38 Special revolvers have a higher-pressure chamber that would damage the .38 Special revolver. The cartridge was highly praised by many for use in hunting, metallic silhouette target shooting and self-defense munition.
This cartridge from Tanaka comes in a two-tone finish with a silver rim casing, being compatible with model guns that can accept .357 MAGNUM.
