Some of the older airsofters may have heard of or even fielded the Mauzen APS2 system spring action sniper rifle, after all, it was the gold standard of airsoft bolt action sniper rifles before the Tokyo Marui VSR-10 was introduced. The APS2 system is also what inspired the system that is now used in Novritsch's first production sniper rifle, the legendary SSG-24!
The Maruzen APS SR-2 Spring Sniper Rifle is an update to the tried and true APS2 system of spring airsoft sniper rifles. Updated and new means there are a couple of changes. Externally, the gun is lightweight and has an AR / M4 Style retractable stock and pistol grip, it is possible to switch these out with M4 / AR-15 gas airsoft gun parts. There's a top Picatinny rail for scopes and sights as well as a Harris-style bipod mount at the bottom.
Internally, this gun uses the Maruzen Type 96 hop-up system and muzzle cap, one could say this is a hybrid between the APS2 and the Type 96 system. The inner barrel is of a 6.05mm tight bore and has a total length of 375mm. Even with low, Japan-compliant FPS levels, Maruzen claims that the gun is effective up to 50 meters, which is honestly, quite impressive.
Lastly, the bolt. This airsoft sniper rifle has a short stroke pull of 85mm and a turn angle of 33 degrees, allowing for quick follow-up shots, not to mention its bolt pull is quite smooth, it is almost just as smooth as a stock Tokyo Marui VSR-10. The bolt is also convertible, meaning you can swap the bolt handle configuration for either a righty or a lefty, because of this, this airsoft sniper rifle is almost full ambidextrous except for the safety switch which can only be found on the right.
