The SCW-9 Pro G, a product of Swiss engineering and innovation, was developed in the 2000s as a modern, budget-friendly line of SMG, Assault Rifles and Battle Rifles produced in various calibres. It incorporates well considered, time-tested features, utilising contemporary materials and modern manufacturing processes. This firearm boasts numerous attributes that appeal to shooters, providing an economical alternative to the increasing demand for carbine rifles at its time of development, with the unique usage of a hydraulic buffer system to better mitigate recoil and improved parts longevity. Configurable in various calibres of pistol and rifle cartridges, the SCW offers ambidextrous functionality in a compact design, with its lightweight polymer housing enhancing control for LE/AF and civilian users alike.
Manufactured by Maruyama, the compact SCW-9 PRO-G is a gas blowback submachine gun featuring a quick detach tri-lug outer barrel, along with a quad Picatinny rail interface enabling shooters to attach accessories and customise their SCW to match their playstyle. As part of the Pro G package, the SMG features a 3-position stock designed to enhance the stability of the SCW, effectively reducing vertical recoil. Additionally, it is equipped with a tri-lug suppressor that is tracer-ready, facilitating the swift installation and removal of the suppressor at a moment's notice. This setup also allows for the incorporation of a tracer within the suppressor, enabling the illumination of tracer BBs. Its ambidextrous fire control system accommodates both left- and right-handed users, facilitating seamless adaptation of the SMG platform with either hand. The magazine release, fire selector, bolt release, and non-reciprocating charging handle are easily accessible for all users. The BT-style fire selector includes Safe, Semi, and Auto fire controls, allowing shooters to switch between modes effortlessly in various scenarios. Designed to accept Maruyama's straight GBB magazine, the extremely lightweight translucent polymer magazine features dummy sticker magazines to provide a more realistic immersion when using the SMG, with its translucent shell providing an added bonus of being able to view in real-time the current BB capacity of the 45 round magazine at any time, providing informative updates for shooters.
At its core, the SMG is constructed from robust high-strength polymer, complemented by an aluminium bolt that ensures a rapid cyclic rate of fire while maintaining durability for extensive use. Many high-stress components are reinforced with steel parts, enhancing longevity for critical elements such as the hammer, sears, bolt release, and pins, ensuring reliable performance over time. A layer of POM material is inlaid into the hammer, providing durability and low friction to reduce wear during interactions with the bolt. The SMG delivers a satisfying recoil for such a compact platform, with dependable accuracy suitable for close to mid-range engagements. Its lightweight design and compact form factor facilitate convenient and swift manipulation in confined spaces, allowing owners prolonged use during milsim skirmishes.
