The Colt Single Action Army, also known as "The Gun That Won the West" needs no introduction, this SAA was carried by many frontiersmen, lawmen, criminals, and everyday citizens during the Western era, but they are also used by actors in old Western films. This particular SAA is actually a variant, the Frontier Six Shooter, and it is actually modeled after the gun used by Actor Alan Ladd in the 1953 Western / Drama film, "Shane".
This limited-production SAA by Hartford is a memorial piece dedicated to the film, the Hartford Shane Memorial Model 2023 Colt SAA.45 Revolver bares a nickel-plated finish, although this gun is plastic, you can still see your reflection on this piece and really doesn't feel plastic at all. The gun also has faux ivory grips with a horse-faced craved on both sides just like the gun in the movie, as well as having no front sights, this is mimicking the actual film gun, for those that wonder why this is done, this is because actors are not actual gunslingers and the front sight post may snag on to the holster and mess up the quick draw scenes we see on screen.
All the attention to detail on this piece makes it a valuable piece to collect for anyone who likes old Westerns and to be fair, who hasn't played cowboys and cowgirls as a kid?
