The Mk18 Mod 1 is a compact airsoft rifle with a 10.3-inch barrel, designed as a modern evolution of the Close Quarter Battle Receiver concept for the M4A1 carbine, originally developed for the US Navy. dnA Studios has expertly crafted this model using high-quality CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum, reinforced with steel internals, ensuring a realistic and durable experience for airsoft enthusiasts and collectors.
Recognizing that traditional M4 carbines and M16 rifles were often too long for certain missions, the NSWC-Crane Division initiated two receiver replacement programs to meet specific operational needs. Among these, the CQBR project emerged, aimed at creating a compact rifle suitable for VIP protection and urban combat, combining the size of a submachine gun with the capability to fire intermediate cartridges. Initially intended for Naval Special Warfare units, the Mk 18 Mod 0 later transitioned into a standard issue rifle, leading to the development of the Mod 1 variant.
dnA Studios meticulously replicates this limited edition model using high-quality CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum and reinforced steel internals, ensuring an authentic experience for airsoft enthusiasts and collectors. The rifle features a one-piece steel outer barrel, a lightened gas tube, and a four-prong flash hider, along with a DD MK18 RIS II handguard. The upper and lower receivers are crafted from a single piece of aluminum, treated with anodisation for durability, and marked with unique serial numbers, owners of the dnA rifle would receive their Mod 1 (2024 ver.) with unique, individual 1400***** codes for each rifles markings and the laser strike-through of the M4A1 CARBINE and the added NAVY 18-1 rollmarks.
The Mk18 Mod 1 airsoft rifle boasts several key features that enhance its performance and authenticity. It includes a CQBR upper receiver group paired with a navy version mounted on an M4A1 lower, showcasing a slight color variation between the upper and lower receivers that reflects different production periods. The design adheres to real steel specifications, incorporating a handguard, buffer extension threads, and grip installation structures. Additionally, it features a durable steel dust cover and forward assist, along with KAC style folding iron sights?both front and rear?with a 300m range, complemented by an A2-type grip. The rifle is equipped with a CQD style steel sling mount and an Crane-style Gen1 stock. Notably, it includes robust steel components such as the magazine latch, bolt catch, trigger, and selector, ensuring reliability and durability. This model uses the VFC M4/HK416 GBB system, which features full steel fire control parts, a steel bolt carrier, VFC M4 V3 nozzle, and a VFC M4 v2 valve knocker set, making this rifle compatible with VFC AR/M4 v2 GBB Magazines.
