The classic M16A1 was the iconic standard issue rifle of the Vietnam War. It was issued to the vast majority of the U.S. Marine Corps and other auxiliary forces during the conflict. Its battle-proven performance and general success in combat led to its continued service in the U.S. armed forces in various iterations over the decades.
In 1969, the M16A1 replaced the aging M14 battle rifle, with the M16A1 incorporating numerous modifications and enhancements, which included a bolt-forward assist, chrome-plated bore, protective reinforcement around the magazine release, and a revised flash hider design. The popularity of the M16 platform caused it to be widely adopted by other armed forces around the world, and in recent times, it is the standard issue for NATO armed forces alongside its younger brother, the M4.
And so Classic Army, true to their Military and Army motifs, has made a high-quality AEG replica of the M16A1. Featuring a full metal upper and lower body with the iconic fixed carry handle design, the outer barrel and front-sight gas block is also made of metal, giving this replica a strong, durable build. The handguard, pistol grip, and stock assembly are made of tough impact-resistant nylon polymer for more rigidity and strength without adding unnecessary weight. The fire-control, like the selector, mock bolt release, forward assist, and magazine release, are all made of metal as well.
Internally, the rifle comes with a full-metal reinforced gearbox that is outfitted with 21:1 steel gears. The piston assembly is reinforced with a stainless steel cylinder, aluminum piston head, and a metal spring guide with bearings to enhance performance and durability. The gearbox also features a quick-change spring system that allows the user to easily change the piston spring to a lower or higher powered spring, depending on which type of game field the end user wants to use this gun.
The rifle also features an adjustable hop-up that is paired with a 6.03mm inner barrel for optimal precision, a semi-auto or full-auto firing mode, and a 190 BB high-capacity wheel-winding AEG magazine. The battery compartment is located in the stock, simply slide the buttplate downwards to access the compartment. It is recommended to use a 7.4v Tamiya LiPo battery but can also run 11.1v due to the included in-line MOSFET.
