A coach gun is a double-barreled shotgun, generally with side-by-side barrels from 18 to 24 inches long. It was called a "cut-down shotgun" and a "messenger's gun" from the use of such shotguns on stagecoaches by shotgun messengers in the American Wild West. The name "Coach Gun" was coined by modern gun collectors.
These shotguns featured external hammers and were manufactured primarily by Remington Arms, Ithaca, Colt's Manufacturing Company, Parker, L.C. Smith, and several Belgian makers. Contrary to myth, Wells Fargo shotguns were not purchased by local agents; prior to 1900, they were purchased from San Francisco gun dealers because Wells Fargo's headquarters were located in San Francisco. From 1908 to 1918, all Wells Fargo shotguns were made by Ithaca.
This Coach Gun by CAW is a highly realistic 1:1 replica of the Remington Arms double-barreled shotgun, and is gas powered. It utilizes CAW's new MINI MOS CART shell system, being able to pack 70 6mm BBs in one shell! Simply charge the shell at the front and load the BBs in on top of the provided wads. The shotgun loads like its real-steel counterpart, where you break the top at the push of a lever to eject spent shells and load new ones in. To shoot, cock back both hammers to prime and pull one of the triggers to shoot one barrel and alternate for the other.
Overall, the CAW Coach Gun is a great Airsoft shotgun that is well worth its price, featuring a highly realistic break-top loading action and satisfying trigger pull with the accompanying boom.
