The Sako TRG-22 sniper rifles were developed by the Finnish firearm manufacturer SAKO of Riihimaki. The TRG-22 is designed to fire standard .308 Winchester ammunition. The rifles are available with olive drab green, desert tan/coyote brown, dark earth or black stocks, and are also available with a folding stock. Normally muzzle brakes are fitted to reduce recoil, jump and flash. The Sako factory TRG muzzle brakes vent sideways and are detachable. Generally TRGs are outfitted with a Zeiss or Schmidt & Bender PM II telescopic sight with fixed power of magnification or with variable magnification. Variable telescopic sights can be used if the operator wants more flexibility to shoot at varying ranges, or when a wide field of view is required.
Now let's talk about the Airsoft replica, also known as the ARES Mid-Range Sniper Rifle which you can get in Black, Dark Earth and Olive Drag. They have released two versions, one with a solid stock and one with a collapsible stock. ARES switch back and forth between spring and gas sniper rifle but in this case, they've decided to stick with gas for this particular replica.
One thing you'll notice immediately is that it comes in many parts but there is really nothing to worry about as even a baboon could put one together. Once you have, you'll notice how heavy it is, much heavier than the Marui VSR-10 but only a little heavier than their ARES AW 338. As a sniper, you'd usually find and hold a position so weight shouldn't really matter in this case.
The build quality is rather fantastic as it is mainly comprised of 6063 aluminium with a nylon fiber stock which is something you've seem on virtually all of their sniper rifles. It has a fully adjustable cheek rest and butt-stock so you can mold it to your liking. It comes with a 23 round magazine which easily slots in and since it is gas powered, the bolt action is smooth and slick.
Inside is a 6.04 x 640mm high precision copper inner barrel. Combining that with the gas powered magazine, the BB pellets clock in at around 440 fps and then steadily decline over time to just over 400. This should not surprise you as this happens to all Gas Guns. You'll also be able to hit your targets at 40-50 meters with no problems at all and they won't ever know where you are since the Mid-Range Sniper Rifle is ever so quiet!
