The SIG XM7 is the U.S. Army's newly adopted variant of the SIG MCX-SPEAR chambered in 6.8x51mm (.277 Fury). Designed by SIG Sauer for the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program in 2022 to replace the M4 Carbine, which was the staple of the U.S. Military for decades. The XM7 features a gas-operated system, a free-floating reinforced M-LOK handguard for direct accessory attachment, and uses SR-25 pattern magazines. The XM7 was developed for the 6.8x51mm Common Cartridge, offering greater lethality at longer ranges. To fully utilize its capabilities, it is paired with the M157 Fire Control optic, which integrates a laser rangefinder, ballistic calculator, and other tech to increase accuracy. The XM7 is the first U.S. Army service rifle to be issued with a suppressor as standard to reduce its firing signature.
The APFG XM7 GBB Airsoft rifle is a high-grade 1:1 gas blow-back replica of the SIG XM7. It features a faithfully replicated 12.7" gas blowback configuration, with the outer barrel equipped with a quick-detach Taper-lok-style flash hider. Its SPEAR-style handguard is equipped with M-LOK rail interfaces and a monolithic 1913 Picatinny upper rail that blends to the receiver, facilitating the attachment of peripheral and optical devices. Additional M-LOK layers accommodate various accessory angles, and anti-rotational QD mounting sockets give plenty of sling point mounting positions.
The XM7 boasts a full metal construction, with the upper receiver and handguard made using CNC-machined aluminum, while the lower receiver is just of standard aluminum construction. The AFPG XM7 also replicates the dual charging handle system with a standard AR-style ambidextrous charging handle at the top rear portion, and a side-charging non-reciprocating handle, both made using CNC-machined aluminum, with the side charging handle reinforced with steel components. The rifle is also equipped with a non-folding MCX AR stock adapter, allowing the user to fit standard AR-style buttstocks with ease.
Internally, the APFG XM7 features a highly realistic internal mechanism. The rifle is equipped with a full steel ambidextrous bolt catch, fire-control group components, and receiver pins. The bolt carrier itself is made using machined aluminum and is further reinforced with steel parts at high-stress points and surfaces. The hop-up chamber uses a quick-adjustable hop-up system, allowing the user to easily adjust the hop by using an included hex key on the dial located on the left side of the receiver in front of the side charging handle, making it very easy to fine-tune the flight trajectory on the go. The hop-up chamber is compatible with VSR-spec hop-up buckings and inner barrels, making upgrades a breeze and allowing you to bring out the full potential with a swathe of aftermarket parts available.
Overall, the APFG XM7 GBB Airsoft rifle exudes an intimidating presence due to its imposing size, making it an excellent choice for enthusiasts of the NGSW rifle, particularly with its GBB system that enhances the overall play experience. The recoil impulse is incredibly stout and snappy, with the cyclic action being very satisfyingly smooth, while the trigger break and reset is incredibly tactile and reactive. This gives a feeling of a sense of control over a beast ready to be unleashed.
