The A!CTION Liberty Chief imitates the Miroku Liberty Chief, a .38 Special revolver crafted by the esteemed Tosa-based manufacturer. This 6-shot revolver boasts dimensions akin to the Smith & Wesson J-frame and features a cylinder latch reminiscent of Colt designs. It marks the first reproduction of a revolver from Miroku, which has been a prominent firearms manufacturer in Tosa since late 19th century and continues to thrive today. While most of their revolvers were exported to the United States, making this model somewhat obscure, its distinctive design captures attention. The Liberty Chief operates with a double-action mechanism comparable in size to a K-frame, yet its construction cleverly combines elements from both Smith & Wesson and Colt. True to its Japanese origins, it has undergone numerous enhancements, leading to a variety of subtle variations. Speculation suggest it may have been initially designed for police use, although the details remain uncertain. Production halted in 1968, leaving behind limited documentation.
This non-firing model gun is a faithful replica of the revolver, featuring a realistic weight despite being constructed from heavyweight resin. The action is exceptionally smooth, making it an ideal prop for films or even as a fidget toy for practicing revolver manipulations. This version of the revolver requires assembly, using the included guide booklet, which provides owners of this limited production run with a gratifying sense of ownership as they construct the gun themselves. Although the booklet is written in Japanese, the pictorial diagrams and modern technology, such as Google Translate, should facilitate the assembly process.
